Chisel Scalers

Chisel scalers are powerful pneumatic tools designed for removing weld spatter, rust, paint, and other tough residues from metal surfaces. With a single solid chisel tip, they offer precision and force for demanding industrial cleaning and surface prep tasks.

Weld spatter and heavy scale chipped off without the shock in your hand

Chisel scalers drive a single chisel against the surface. The HRV-95 weld flux scaler is used mainly to chip weld spatter off plates and seams and for light scale removal after welding. The heavy duty HRV-601A takes the harder jobs, such as heavy weld chipping, foundry chipping and cleaning concrete. Welding shops, steel fabricators, shipyards and foundries use them where a grinder would cut into the base metal.

The problem with a conventional chipping hammer

In a standard chipping hammer the piston drives the chisel and the recoil comes straight back through the housing into the grip. The blow that breaks the spatter loose is the same blow the operator absorbs, for as long as the trigger is held.

Why low vibration matters at the weld

Spatter removal is done many times a day in short bursts, often by the welder who made the seam. Lower vibration per burst means more trigger time before the daily exposure limits are reached, and a steadier chisel stays on the spatter instead of scarring the plate.

IPT's answer

The HRV-95A and HRV-95B are recoilless weld flux scalers declared at 3.5 m/s², below the EU exposure limit value of 5.0 m/s², with 68 dB(A) noise and 1.5 l/s air consumption. The B version adds a blowing function that clears the seam as you work. The HRV-601A delivers more power for heavy chipping and is declared at 5.2 m/s², so plan its daily use with the exposure calculator.
